What Do You Know About The War of 1812?
Interview Project Students were introduced to the War of 1812 by completing K-W-L charts to activate their prior knowledge. They then watched the film clip, What Do You Know About The War of 1812 (see below). Based off of the questions and facts they had listed on their K-W-L charts, students then created interview questions that they then asked to students and staff in an interview style similar to the film clip. This project is 100% student lead as interview questions are always based off of personal K-W-L responses and interviewing and filming is done by students independently. |
The Great Migration: Our Story
Immigrant Perspective Case Study Students, in groups of 3-5, represent a particular group of immigrants who are making the voyage over to the new world after the War of 1812's completion. Each group has background information on their group's particular story, including employment, social status and hardships. As students learn about the time period, each group presents how their specific group would have interpreted the event. For example, the voyage over to the "new world" could have been plagued with death and despair if you happened to be a poor farmer or it could have been excruciatingly boring if you were part of the British elite.
